Zariya

Our mission

Making Pakistan's invisible economy visible

Millions of skilled Pakistani workers — electricians, plumbers, AC technicians — earn their living entirely off the books. Their work powers every household, yet it appears in no earnings record, no credit file, and no national statistic. The informal economy they form is one of the largest in the region, and it is almost entirely unmeasured.

Zariya starts where the problem is most concrete: a marketplace where customers book CNIC-verified workers at fixed, transparent prices. Every booking creates something that did not exist before — a documented transaction: who worked, what was done, what was earned, and how the customer rated it.

Multiply that by thousands of jobs and the marketplace becomes infrastructure. That is the company we are building.

What formalization unlocks

Financial inclusion for workers

A documented earnings history is the missing prerequisite for credit, insurance and savings products. Zariya gives workers a verifiable income record for the first time — the foundation on which formal financial services can finally reach them.

Measuring the unmeasured

Informal services are largely absent from GDP measurement. Each documented booking is a data point that today's statistics miss — priced, timestamped, geo-located and categorized by trade.

Partnerships for policy

Our long-term roadmap includes partnerships with government bodies such as SMEDA and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, and with research institutions — providing anonymized, aggregate insight into wages, demand and skills across the trades economy.

Privacy by design

Any data shared with partners is anonymized and aggregated — never individual records. Workers' and customers' personal information is used only to run the service they signed up for.

Where we are today

Zariya is live in Lahore with three trades — electricians, plumbers and AC technicians — a mobile app for customers and workers, and this website for discovery and booking. Every worker on the platform is CNIC-verified before their first job; every completed booking generates a rating and a documented transaction.

The sequence is deliberate: earn trust in high-frequency home services first, expand across trades and cities second, and build the data and financial-inclusion layers on top of real transaction volume — not instead of it.
